How to disable driver signing in windows 7 64 bit?
« on: July 15, 2011, 07:00:10 PM »
Hey everyone,

Recently, I started trying to record videos with my Xbox using DVD Xpress DX2. The capture card in question is /not/ generally compatible with Windows 7 64-bit, but the other day I was able to find a bypass that allowed me to reset my computer and make it ignore the Driver Signatures. I followed the process in question, but now it never works. I mean... I got it to work the first time, but now the screen in the tutorial doesn't show up anymore.

In the instructions I read, it told me to press F8 during boot, then in the advanced boot options, choose to ignore driver signatures with drivers. I did that the first time, now whenever I reboot, it gives me a driver boot screen and a choice for which one I want to boot from. When I choose, nothing comes of it and I boot up with the signatures still reading. IE: After the first time I restarted my computer and it worked, it no longer works.

The second reply is the one I used for the above description.

But since that option wasn't working, I tried two other solutions... both of which did not work:

So I'm getting really frustrated now and am wondering if anyone here has any solutions to my problem that won't require buying software.

Please reply when you folks get a chance.

PS: For the love of God, don't post replies with the stuff listed in the above links. I want answers, not laziness with the same generic replies.

I haven't tried it, but this tool should do the trick - it'll both enable Windows 7's testsigning mode (which you'd need to develop your own drivers as it allows you to load drivers signed with a locally generated key) and allows you to sign whichever driver file you want, same as if you were compiling your own driver.

Oh my god - it's full of FAIL!

I was preparing to download that the other day, but as soon as I tried to save it, my anti-virus popped up with a trojan warning.

Our corporate antivirus from TrendMicro doesn't mind it, and neither do most virus scanners except for one (would that be the one you're using? Also, according to the site itself those used to be more...).

And that "Trojan.Win32.Tool.Driverunsign!A2" rather sounds like some trojans use it themselves rather than the program itself being nefarious - which doesn't surprise me since you want to circumvent one of Windows 7's apparent security features...
